Group Fitness

All of the Adventure Learning Program’s weekly activities, enables participants the opportunity to step outside of their comfort zone to conquer fears, build confidence, self-esteem and self-reliance, all while developing social connections.

 

 

The Group Fitness activity or otherwise known as “Friday Fitness” with the Adventure Learning Program is a rigorous physical workout structured around fun team building games that have a boot-camp style component to them. Group Fitness not only provides social inclusion amongst peers but also produces health benefits through strength-training, cardiovascular activities, and endurance building exercises.

It is widely know that participating in a regular physical fitness regimen has extensive benefits to an individuals health and body. As a result of participating in Group Fitness with the Adventure Learning Program, individuals have experienced increased energy, weight loss, muscle gain, improved immune system and decreased smoking habits to quitting smoking entirely.

The range of benefits from group fitness is immense. Studies have shown that working out within a group challenges individuals to push beyond their perceived limitations and achieve greater results physically, emotionally, and psychologically. It encourages healthy social interaction and decreases feelings of loneliness and isolation. It addresses negative body imagine and thought processes as well as increases assertiveness and enthusiasm for life.

On a physiological level, engaging in regular physical activity can reduce the “stress hormone” otherwise known as cortisol, while also aiding in the body’s natural production of serotonin and dopamine which can help overcome depression, anxiety, and other mental stressors. In addition, endorphins are released within the body during and after a workout that leaves participants mood and energy elevated. Overall, physical fitness provides participants with feelings of accomplishment and fulfillment that leads to high self-esteem and positive self-image.

The Adventure Learning Program staffs certified personal trainers/fitness instructors to lead participants in safe-fun activities throughout the week. The Adventure Learning program also provides team-building workshops and ropes courses to groups interested in incorporating group dynamic processing into their weekly activity.

The Adventure Learning Program and their staff provide all necessary equipment to their participants to engage in group fitness.

Participants are required to bring clothing that are easily moveable in, closed toed shoes, and a refillable water bottle.
